Taylor to Receive Artist Of the Decade Honor at 2019 American Music Awards

Taylor has been announced as the recipient of Artist of the Decade at the AMAs. She’s won 23 awards and if she wins two more this year, she’ll pass Michael Jackson and become the most AMA awarded artist ever! To honor this achievement, she’ll perform a medley of her biggest hits live during the show on Nov 24.

Taylor Swift has won more American Music Awards than any other artist this decade, so it’s only fitting that the songstress be honored as Artist of the Decade at this year’s ceremony.

dick clark productions and ABC announced the award Wednesday (Oct. 30), also revealing that the superstar will take the stage to perform the biggest hits of her more-than-a-decade-long career.

“Taylor’s impact on music this decade is undeniable and her performances on the American Music Awards have been truly spectacular,” Mark Bracco, executive vice president of programming & development at dick clark productions said in a press statement. “We’re thrilled to honor her as our Artist of the Decade and can’t wait for her to blow everyone away with an epic, career-spanning performance unlike any other!”

Swift currently has the most AMA wins of any female artist ever with 23 awards. At this year’s ceremony, she’s nominated for artist of the year, favorite music video, favorite female artist – pop/rock, favorite album – pop/rock and favorite artist – adult contemporary. She might surpass Michael Jackson’s record for most AMAs of all time if she wins two of the five categories she’s nominated in.

The 2019 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
