‘1989’ Becomes Highest Selling International Album in India This Year

MUMBAI: Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ was the album that ruled the music scene in 2015, hitting the spot for fans across the world! The album has now sold close to a phenomenal 9 million units worldwide! The album has spawned multiple hits including ‘Shake It Off’, ‘Blank Space’, ‘Style’, ‘Bad Blood’ and the lastest single ‘Wildest Dreams’ – the video of which is directed by Joseph Kahn and shot in Africa and California, and is set in the 1950s.

While breaking records the world over, Swift has never failed to impress her legion of fans in India! Swift’s hold on Indian fans has also proven unshakeable as the album goes Triple Platinum in the country, making it the highest selling international album in India in 2015!

To commemorate the artists’ massive success in India, Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director and CEO, Universal Music Group South Asia, personally felicitated Taylor Swift with a Triple Platinum plaque in Singapore where the artist was touring as part of her SEA tour.
