“1989” Single Sales Cross the 9.5 Million Mark

Talk within music circles is shifting to “Bad Blood,” which is slated to be released as the fourth single from “1989,” but there are currently only three official singles from Taylor Swift’s album.

The combined US sales total for “Shake it Off,” “Blank Space” and “Style,” those singles, now exceeds the 9.5 million mark.

According to Nielsen Music, the songs possess respective cumulative digital sales marks of 4.307 million, 3.853 million and 1.366 million. Collectively, the official radio releases from “1989” have sold 9.526 million digital copies in the United States.

Nearly 147,000 of those sales came this week. Current single “Style” moved 73,163 copies, while “Blank Space” and “Shake it Off” followed with 40,042 and 33,632, respectively.

They accounted for 72% of the weekly “1989” track sales. Per Nielsen, the fifth Swift album was responsible for 204,136 individual track sales this week. Under the current Billboard 200 system, that produced a Track Equivalent Album total of 20,413 units.

Combined with the album’s weekly pure sales total of 38,887, “1989” shifted a total 59,300 total consumption units this week. Up from the 51,808 moved last week, the unit total allowed “1989” to retain its #5 position on the reveamped Billboard 200.
