Taylor Swift may be spending most of her time in New York these days, but she’ll be heading west at the end of next month.

I’ve just learned that the pop music superstar will perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards in L.A.!

Swift is planning an “explosive” performance for the Moonman extravaganza, one source said.

Exact details are being kept under wraps, but I do know that Swift will be hitting the stage by herself. “It’s not a collaboration with another singer,” the source said.

So will Taylor be debuting a new song? We sure hope so!

Previously announced performers include Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer.

Beyoncé leads this year’s nominees with eight nominations, followed by Eminem and Iggy Azalea with seven apiece.

Taylor Tops Forbes’ List of Highest-Paid Country Artists

Every year, Forbes magazine calculates the highest paid artists in every genre. This year, Taylor placed 2nd in the Country Artist category by earning $64 million through ticket sales for her worldwide tour and her endorsements with Keds, Diet Coke, and Covergirl. Congratulations Taylor!

No. 2: Taylor Swift, $64 million

Still only 24 years old, Swift fell just short of the top spot on this year’s Country Cash Kings list, but her $64 million haul is her best year yet. She earns the bulk of her bucks from touring, also cashing in on endorsements for Diet Coke, Keds and CoverGirl. Earlier this year the crossover star was honored at the CMAs with the Pinnacle Award, which has only been given to one other artist: Garth Brooks.

Taylor To Perform At The 2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival

It has been announced today that Taylor will be performing at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, which will take place in Las Vegas on September 19th and 20th. Tickets will go on sale on July 26th at 1 p.m. EST. You can read the article below for more information!

The iHeartRadio Music Festival makes its fourth trip to Las Vegas on September 19 and 20, and this year’s lineup is appropriately star-studded. Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Usher, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Motley Crue, Zac Brown Band, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Paramore, Iggy Azalea, Train, Eric Church, Lorde, Calvin Harris, Bastille and Steve Aoki are the first performers to be confirmed for the main stage at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino.

Swift, Usher, Minaj and Harris are among this year’s return performers, and are all prepping major releases for the fourth quarter, which iHeartRadio has helped labels and managers tee off for three years running.

“We want to continue to deliver the goods for artists and help their development, and to see more great music to keep the radio industry healthy,” Tom Poleman, president of Clear Channel’s national programming platforms, tells Billboard. “It’s great to have the diversity of genres this year, too. We have Motley Crue, which is obviously very different from Train, Eric Church, or Ariana Grande, but that’s what makes it so special.

  Forbes Article

Earlier today, Forbes published an article about Taylor’s career. It perfectly describes why she’s such a great artist. The article summarizes her writing skills, her relationship with the fans, and her personal life. Be sure to check it out below!

Taylor Swift is a phenomenon. She’s sold over 22 million albums world wide and she’s one of the best-selling digital recording artist of all time. She has endorsement deals with Sony , Diet Coke and Covergirl. She’s number three on “The 10 Highest-Paid Women in Music 2013,” Forbes List. Mick Jagger thinks she’s a rock star. Though she has accomplished a lifetime full of achievements, she’s just 24. She is the girl you’d hate if you didn’t like her so much.

The last (but not least) remarkable thing about Swift is her ability to thrive and continue to maintain high album sales in an industry that’s technologically evolving, in an economy that hasn’t been kind to the entertainment industry. Major artists are seeing record and single sales suffer, but Swift isn’t feeling the effects.

There are many, many reasons why Swift is as successful as she is, but here are just a few that can apply to anyone, and that Swift can teach us:

Taylor Writes Article For Wall Street Journal’s 125th Anniversary

Taylor wrote an article about the future of the music industry for the Wall Street Journal’s 125th Anniversary! Taylor offers an insightful view into the current state of the music industry and how it’s being affected by social media. She also discusses the importance of having a connection with fans and how to keep them engaged. It’s an excellent read so make sure to check it out below!

Where will the music industry be in 20 years, 30 years, 50 years?

Before I tell you my thoughts on the matter, you should know that you’re reading the opinion of an enthusiastic optimist: one of the few living souls in the music industry who still believes that the music industry is not dying…it’s just coming alive.

There are many (many) people who predict the downfall of music sales and the irrelevancy of the album as an economic entity. I am not one of them. In my opinion, the value of an album is, and will continue to be, based on the amount of heart and soul an artist has bled into a body of work, and the financial value that artists (and their labels) place on their music when it goes out into the marketplace. Piracy, file sharing and streaming have shrunk the numbers of paid album sales drastically, and every artist has handled this blow differently.

In recent years, you’ve probably read the articles about major recording artists who have decided to practically give their music away, for this promotion or that exclusive deal.
