The iHeartRadio Music Festival makes its fourth trip to Las Vegas on September 19 and 20, and this year’s lineup is appropriately star-studded. Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Usher, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Motley Crue, Zac Brown Band, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Paramore, Iggy Azalea, Train, Eric Church, Lorde, Calvin Harris, Bastille and Steve Aoki are the first performers to be confirmed for the main stage at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino.
Swift, Usher, Minaj and Harris are among this year’s return performers, and are all prepping major releases for the fourth quarter, which iHeartRadio has helped labels and managers tee off for three years running.
“We want to continue to deliver the goods for artists and help their development, and to see more great music to keep the radio industry healthy,” Tom Poleman, president of Clear Channel’s national programming platforms, tells Billboard. “It’s great to have the diversity of genres this year, too. We have Motley Crue, which is obviously very different from Train, Eric Church, or Ariana Grande, but that’s what makes it so special.

Before I tell you my thoughts on the matter, you should know that you’re reading the opinion of an enthusiastic optimist: one of the few living souls in the music industry who still believes that the music industry is not dying…it’s just coming alive.
There are many (many) people who predict the downfall of music sales and the irrelevancy of the album as an economic entity. I am not one of them. In my opinion, the value of an album is, and will continue to be, based on the amount of heart and soul an artist has bled into a body of work, and the financial value that artists (and their labels) place on their music when it goes out into the marketplace. Piracy, file sharing and streaming have shrunk the numbers of paid album sales drastically, and every artist has handled this blow differently.
In recent years, you’ve probably read the articles about major recording artists who have decided to practically give their music away, for this promotion or that exclusive deal.
The Red Tour is officially the highest grossing country music tour of all time according to Billboard! Over the coarse of 15 months, the Red Tour grossed $150 million which breaks the previous record for highest grossing country tour by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Taylor Swift has smashed the all-time revenue record for a single tour by a country artist with the final stats reported from her Red tour that played arenas and stadiums in four continents during a 15-month span. According to Billboard’s Boxscore archives, the tour’s overall gross of $150 million surpasses the prior country artist record held by double-billed Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Soul2Soul tour that brought in $141 million during 2006 and 2007.
The Red tour, which tops the weekly Hot Tours ranking, began last year on March 13 in Omaha, Neb. and ran for six months in North America before closing with a three-show stand in Nashville in September. In November and December, Swift traveled Down Under for a five-city jaunt through Australia and New Zealand to close out the year. She performed in London and Berlin in February to kick off the tour’s 2014 schedule, and the final trek covered six cities in Asia, beginning with a May 30 performance in Shanghai and ending on June 12 with a final concert in Singapore. The Red tour’s final box office counts total $150,184,971 in revenue from 1,702,933 sold tickets at 86 performances in 12 countries.

Only 24 years old, Swift is making her fifth appearance on the FORBES Celebrity 100 with her highest earnings to date: $64 million. Swift’s latest, “Red,” was shut out at the Grammy Awards but the cross-over star was honored with the Pinnacle Award at the latest Country Music Association Awards for her success. The award has only been given to one other person, singer Garth Brooks. Swift also earns with endorsements for Diet Coke, Keds and CoverGirl.

The “Sweeter Than Fiction” singer, 24, and the Barefoot Contessa host, 66, teamed up for the magazine’s first-ever July/August Music Issue, on stands June 24. Taylor, who owns all of Ina’s cookbooks, traveled from her Tribeca apartment in New York City to the Hamptons to meet the celebrity chef. Taylor invited her mother, Andrea Finlay, and brother, Austin Swift, to join her.
When the trio arrived, Ina was in the midst of slicing warm date bread and getting coffee ready for her guests. “Just another day at Barefoot Contessa,” joked the TV personality, whose show debuted in 2002

In an exclusive first look for PEOPLE, Swift, in a dress to match her signature red lips, digs into author Lois Lowry’s young adult classic The Giver, recipient of the 1994 Newbery Medal.
The book is a fitting choice: Swift makes her next big-screen appearance in the film adaptation, to open Aug. 15. She plays the character Rosemary alongside Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges and Katie Holmes.
A devoted supporter of public libraries, Swift donates books in her hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania.
