“Wildest Dreams” Goes Gold, “Style” 2X Platinum

Taylor Swift receives a gold certification for her “Wildest Dreams.” “Style,” meanwhile, goes double platinum.

A fifth track from Taylor Swift’s “1989” has officially earned a certification under the RIAA’s Digital Singles program.

Following in the footsteps of official singles “Shake it Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style” and “Bad Blood,” Taylor Swift’s “1989” album track “Wildest Dreams” has received a gold certification from the RIAA.

Issued June 30, the gold certification confirms a unit total in excess of 500,000. A unit is equivalent to one paid download or 100 streams.

— In addition to scoring the gold certification for “Wildest Dreams,” Swift also earned a new award for her “Style.” The third single from “1989” is now a double-platinum digital single in the United States.

Previous singles “Shake it Off” and “Blank Space” are also multi-platinum. Current single “Bad Blood” is platinum.

  Taylor’s Earnings: $80 Million In 2015

In 2005 Taylor Swift was still a blip on music’s radar: a country-singing teenager with a guitar—and possibly some teardrops—who was just getting noticed for her charismatic voice and talent for song-writing. Fast forward to a decade later and Swift is completing a year that proved to the music industry that she is a force to be reckoned with. With a platinum album, wildly popular world tour and industry clout that made even the seemingly all-powerful Apple change its tune, Swift’s place in music has gone from teen idol to undeniable power broker this past year.

And, as so often is the case, where there is power, there is money. Swift made $80 million between June 2014 and June 2015, making her one of the highest-paid musicians on this year’s Celebrity 100. Swift has her music to thank for most of her income: She is one of the few stars on our list to make in the double-digit millions for music sales—mostly of her 1989 album—and the accompanying world tour has also added millions to her income. Thanks to an enormous fan base, which stretches far past teenage girls, and social media following, Swift has landed lucrative endorsement deals with Keds, Sony and Diet Coke. Maybe this success is why Swift has no trouble shaking off the haters.

“Style” Becomes Adult Contemporary Radio’s Most Played Song

Taylor Swift’s “Style” may finally remove “Thinking Out Loud” from the top of the adult contemporary airplay chart.

As her “Bad Blood” continues to reign over the pop airplay chart, Taylor Swift’s previous single “Style” is finally on the verge of claiming #1 at adult contemporary.

The song, which spent time earlier this year atop Mediabase’s pop and hot adult contemporary airplay charts, is currently the most played song at adult contemporary. If it can retain its lead through Sunday, it will officially become #1 on the Mediabase AC chart.

In doing so, it would dethrone Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” Sheeran’s smash, which first seized the crown from Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” has reigned since March.

“Style” received 2,746 plays during the seven days between June 20 and 26 (+90). Sheeran’s tune earned 2,738 spins within that window (-22).

Other Top 5 AC songs include Maroon 5’s “Sugar” (#3), Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” (#4) and Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song” (#5).
