Taylor is on the cover of NME magazine! Taylor reveals how calling her mom keeps her grounded in the face of global news coverage and scrutiny. Taylor Swift’s dressing room smells like Madonna. It’s thanks to a scented candle presented by the old queen of pop to the new, after Swift commented on the aroma of Madge’s own chambers. “But hers has a hint of eucalyptus mist, too,” says Taylor. “I don’t have the wherewithal to work a steamer – it seems very complex.”
As we speak, a display of alien-looking purple flowers arrives from Mary J Blige. Also delivered this morning was a presentation box of M&M’s imprinted with the images of Swift’s two cats. “I am freaking out about them,” she says, zipping across the room. “I sent pictures to all my friends.” She plops back down on the sofa. “So… that’s my dressing room vibe!”
We’re backstage at the 1989 Tour, the blockbuster arena spectacular in support of Swift’s world-beating album of the same name. This is the fourth of an unprecedented five sold-out nights at LA’s Staples Center, and Swift is loving every minute. “I was thinking about this yesterday and it hit me: I don’t want this tour to end. Ever,” she says. “And that’s never happened to me before.”

Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” now boasts a US sales total in excess of 850,000.
The sales pace remains brisk for Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.”
According to Nielsen Music, the fifth “1989” single drove 85,253 paid US downloads during the September 25-October 1 tracking week. Down slightly from the previous week’s mark, the tally nonetheless allows “Wildest Dreams” to retain its #4 position on Digital Songs.
It, moreover, brings the song’s cumulative US sales total to 871,822.
Insofar as it is roughly maintaining its pace, “Wildest Dreams” should have no trouble crossing the 1 million pure sales mark within the October 9-15 tracking week.
Taylor played a second show at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada last night! She brought out Charli xcx as a special guest to perform Charli’s hit song “Boom Clap“. For the acoustic B stage song of the night, Taylor chose “Fifteen“. Make sure to check out photos from the show in the gallery and watch videos below!
This week, Taylor Swift’s latest single, “Wildest Dreams”, cracked into the top ten, making it the fifth single to do so from her pop album 1989. With this latest accomplishment, she joins an elite group of musicians who have managed to secure that many big hits from just one record. Thus far, only 21 albums have seen that kind of success, and there are some pretty impressive names in that grouping, including the Black Eyed Peas, Paula Abdul, and both Janet and Michael Jackson (several times over).
The promotional campaign around 1989 has now been going strong for over a year, and there hasn’t been a time when she wasn’t all but controlling pop radio in this country. She began a new era with the surprise drop of “Shake It Off”, which introduced people to her new sound. The song went right to number one, as did follow up single “Blank Space”, which made her the first woman to replace herself at number one. Third cut “Style” peaked at number seven, but the album was by no means slowing down. Not long after that, the action and celebrity-packed video for “Bad Blood” was released, and the song became her third number one from 1989.
Not only is 1989 one of only 21 albums to have at least five top ten hits, but it is one of only 19 albums that have had at least three number ones, and it’s not done yet.
1989 is Taylor’s first album to send five singles to the top ten on the Hot 100, but that doesn’t mean her previous releases weren’t successful on the singles front. Both Fearless and Red had four tracks make it all the way to the top ten, and both had several others that came close.
Taylor performed the first of two sold out nights at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada last night! She performed in front of a crowd of 50,000 fans and brought out Keith Urban as a special guest to sing two songs; “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “Somebody Like You“. For the acoustic B stage song of the night, Taylor chose “You Belong With Me“. Check out photos from the show in the gallery and be sure to watch videos and read reviews from the show below!
