The amazing statistics on Taylor Swift’s “Red” sales just keep coming.
The country/pop star’s album sold a massive 1.208 million copies in the U.S. last week according to Nielsen SoundScan — marking the eighth-largest sales week for an album since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.
“Red” also debuts at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Country Albums charts, marking Swift’s third and fifth leaders on the respective tallies.
Further, “Red” earned the biggest sales week for any album in over a decade. The last title to ring up a larger sum in a frame was Eminem’s “The Eminem Show,” which sold 1.322 million in its first full week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated June 15, 2002.
Another fun fact to ponder: “Red” sold two albums every second last week in the U.S. There were 604,800 seconds during the SoundScan selling week between 12 AM on Monday, Oct. 22 and 11:59 PM on Sunday, Oct. 28.

It’s official: Taylor Swift’s “Red” sold a whopping 1.208 million copies last week in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan. That’s more than any album has sold in a single week since 2002, when Eminem’s “The Eminem Show” sold 1.322 million in its first full week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
“Red” also easily debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, scoring Swift her third chart-topper.
“Red” is only the 18th album to sell a million units in a single week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. Its start ranks as the eighth biggest sales week in that span of time. The SoundScan-era record week is held by *NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached,” when it debuted at No. 1 with 2.416 million in 2000.

Taylor Swift is just going to have a salad. What she really wants is fried chicken. Or at the very least, fried chicken on her salad.
“I think about food literally all day every day,” she says, settling her lithe, 5-foot-11 frame into an outdoor booth at the BBQ joint across the street from her high-rise condo in Nashville. “It’s a thing.”
Even so, she orders the greens with grilled chicken, water to drink. Unlike her pop princess peers, Swift, 22, has made a habit of smart choices since she appeared on the music scene at 14, a winsome song-writing prodigy whose second album, Fearless, released when she was just 18, became the most-awarded album in country music history.
