  I think I grow more from living life than through co-writing. Co-writing doesn't teach you anything as a songwriter, just how to get your ideas across better. I've grown a lot through high school. I spent a lot of time as an outsider, so I tend to write songs about things going on around me, through observations - how people are thinking, feeling, reacting. I was writing songs about relationships when I was 13, I wasn't in any relationships. I was writing about things I'd watched in movies or just watching how people communicate.

I became a fan when I heard Teardrops on the radio and immediately admired how honest and daring the lyrics were. For some reason, Tay's songs all have the ability to move me, and perhaps everyone who listens, even though they're not always relateable. I l look her up on the net and back then, she was never decked out in heels and fancy dresses, she didn't need any of that to get people's attention or be successful.
