By grabbing a Top 10 position on *this* week’s Billboard 200, Taylor Swift’s “1989” has removed the ambiguity. It has truly spent a calendar year inside the Top 10.
Upon learning that Taylor Swift’s “1989” claimed #9 on last week’s Billboard 200 (dated November 7), numerous media outlets reported that Swift’s album had spent 52 weeks — a complete year — inside the chart’s Top 10.
There was only one problem: while Swift’s album had spent 52 chart weeks inside the Top 10, its run had not yet crossed the one-year mark. “1989” was released on Monday, October 27, 2014, but the tracking week for last week’s chart concluded on Thursday, October 22, 2015.
The confusion stemmed from the fact that Billboard, this past July, issued a transitional chart to account for the switch to a Friday-Thursday sales tracking week. Dated July 25, the chart covered the eleven-day period between June 29 and July 9.
Since data from the first seven days of that tracking week was included in the chart dated July 18, the July 25 chart only accounted for four fresh days of sales activity.
Billboard has announced the nominees for the 2015 Billboard Touring Awards! Taylor’s 1989 World Tour is nominated for Top Tour and Top Draw. Her management is also nominated for Top Management. The awards ceremony will take place at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on November 19. Click here to see a full list of the nominees and other categories.

Following in the footsteps of the previous four “1989” singles, Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” rises to #1 at pop and hot adult contemporary radio.
Last week, Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” ranked as the runner-up on Mediabase’s pop and hot adult contemporary radio charts.
This week, it earns the #1 spot on both listings.
Spun ~18,751 times during the official October 18-24 tracking week (+721), “Wildest Dreams” ascends to #1 on the Mediabase pop chart. It seizes the throne from Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?,” which slips to #2 this week. Bieber’s tune received ~17,913 weekly plays (-632).
The Weeknd’s “The Hills” (#3, = | ~17,319, +1), Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (#4, = | ~16,420, +1,567), and R. City’s “Locked Away (featuring Adam Levine)” (#5, = | ~11,318, -3,431) complete pop’s weekly Top 5.
“Wildest Dreams” concurrently received ~6,929 tracking week spins at Hot AC radio, where it takes the crown from X Ambassadors’ “Renegades.” That song, which reigned for two weeks, falls to #2 courtesy its ~6,686 weekly plays (+59).
R. City’s “Locked Away (featuring Adam Levine)” (#3, = | ~6,486, +66), Elle King’s “Ex’s and Oh’s (#4, = | ~6,246, +419), and Meghan Trainor’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You (featuring John Legend)” (#5, +2 | ~5,122, +621) complete the Top 5.
With the first three days of the October 18-24 tracking week in the books, Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” is pacing as the leader at pop and hot adult contemporary radio.
The fifth “1989” single received 7,907 pop radio spins within that three-day window. Up 5.0% from last week’s count, the mark positions “Wildest Dreams” at #1 on Mediabase’s building airplay chart.
Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?,” which topped last week’s chart, is currently #2 on the building chart. It received 7,784 spins within the first three days of the tracking week (+2.0%).
“Wildest Dreams” concurrently received 2,909 hot adult contemporary spins over the past three days. Up 6.2% from the previous week’s total, the count gives Swift’s tune a narrow lead over X Ambassadors’ “Renegades.” The song, which spent the past two weeks at #1, is #2 on the building chart. It received 2,906 spins within the aforementioned three-day window (+3.2%).

Taylor Swift’s Realest Interview Ever
Weren’t we told they don’t make pop stars this big anymore? Nobody bothered to tell Taylor Swift. Chuck Klosterman interrogates the most popular human alive
“That’s a pap,” she says as we leave the restaurant, pointing toward an anonymous gray car that looks like the floor model in an auto dealership specializing in anonymous gray cars. Her security detail suggests that it’s probably not a paparazzo because there’s no way a paparazzo could find us at such an unglamorous, unassuming establishment. But as with seemingly every other inference she has ever made, Taylor Swift is ultimately proven right. The guy in the gray car is taking her picture. This annoys her, but just barely.
It’s August in Southern California. We crawl into the back of a massive Toyota and start driving to Swift’s West Coast residence, located in a rural enclave of Beverly Hills. The gray car trails us through Franklin Canyon. Swift whips out her phone and starts showing me images from the video shoot for “Wildest Dreams,” including a clip of a giraffe licking her face. She has more photos on her phone than any person I’ve ever met.
Taylor will be one of the hosts of the 2016 Met Gala alongside co chairs Anna Wintour and Idris Elba. The theme for the 2016 Met Gala is Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age of Technology. The Met Gala will take place on May 2nd 2016 in New York City. Read more about the event below!
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced the new theme for next year’s Costume institute exhibition: “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” The upcoming exhibition will focus on the dichotomy between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion. “Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made,” explains Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute. “But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other.”
The museum also announced the 2016 Met Gala will take place on Monday, May 2 and will be hosted by cochairs Idris Elba, Jonathan Ive, Taylor Swift, and Anna Wintour. Nicolas Ghesquière, Karl Lagerfeld, and Miuccia Prada will serve as honorary chairs, and the gala and accompanying exhibition will be sponsored by Apple.
