Taylor Becomes Top New Artist of the 2000s

Yahoo.com unveiled the list of the best-selling album artists of the 2000s earlier today and Taylor has claimed the top spot by selling more albums in the U.S. than any other artist who has emerged since January 2000! The release of 1989 enabled Taylor to surpass Linkin Park by .2 million. You can read more about it below.

Taylor Swift (25.2 million)

The country-turned-pop superstar emerged in October 2006 with her eponymous debut album. Her best-seller is her sophomore album, 2008’s Fearless (6.9 million). It logged 11 weeks at #1 and was the best-selling album of 2009. Swift has had four consecutive #1 albums which have spent a combined total of 27 weeks at #1. She has won seven Grammys, including Album of the Year for Fearless. She won the CMA’s Horizon Award for 2007 and went on to become only the second woman to be voted the CMA’s Entertainer of the Year twice. (Barbara Mandrell was the first.)
